Meet the Salty Pickles
Alexis
is a right‑handed enthusiast hailing from Huntington Station, NY. She is more competitive than most but brings laughter and joy along with the occasional paddle throw.
Think of her as the strategic sniper of the pickleball court—unassuming until she drops a dink right where it hurts.
Dieu
has got a double backhand that smokes as it passes you. A Long Island native based in Hicksville, NY, known by her sweet personality and kind soul. But, don’t be fooled, she’s always ready to make you think twice about your next shot in her direction.
A doubles dynamo who plays clean, keeps pace, and laughs off every questionable call (even the ones she makes herself).
Our Pickleball Partnership Story
We had been playing together for over a year (which in pickleball years is a long time!). We just vibed on the court after our first random tournament pairing when a mutual friend needed a sub. One tournament turned into a natural friendship, seasonals together, rec play partners and where we are today. We would call each other after almost every time we played, be it a rec game or tourney. We would chat about how we played, the drama, the gossip. And Dieu pitched the idea of making these conversations a podcast. A podcast that felt like hanging out after a game. We would discuss the laughs, the rants, the random questions or thoughts, and the unexpected things we learned about the pickleball community! And not the pro pickleball community, the regular players – those stuck in that wonderful transition zone of 3.75 – 4.25. After some push back from Alexis, we decided to just go for it! We had nothing to lose, as long as we’re still having fun, this podcast will continue to exist!
Why “Salty Pickles”?
Because life (and pickleball) on Long Island has a little salt in the air and a lot of attitude. Sometimes you get lemons or errant serves, and that’s when you add pickle juice. FUN FACT: Pickle Juice was the original name when we first came up with the podcast idea!
We’re a mix of sharp humor, real talk, and a shared love for the quirky side of court life. A little punny, a little spicy, and always proudly salty.
What’s the podcast about?
Salty Pickles is all about pickleball culture with a side of sarcasm. It’s the snarky commentary nobody asked for but everyone secretly loves.
We cover everything from Long Island’s growing pickleball scene to interviews with local players and our ongoing quest to master the kitchen shot while keeping the man-bashing light and snarky.
